Stylophora Coral

Stylopora Coral

The Stylopora Coral is a unique SPS coral, as unlike its other family members it actually holds blunt tipped branches that differentiate from the common needle tipped, and therefore adds great diversity to a reef tank that will not go missed. Furthermore, its colour will most definitely force this coral to develop into one of the most stunning features of your reef tank, as it boasts a bright pink colour that can be difficult to find elsewhere.

One reason why this coral is so common in the marine industry is for its ability to evolve and adapt to different aquarium conditions. Many hobbyists have stated that it can handle a range of lighting intensities and water flow strengths, thus making it a great SPS to start off your reef adventure with. However, for it to thrive at its full potential it should only be added to those mature reef tanks that already have a base of micro-plankton present.

For continued good health, it will also require the addition of calcium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water. The Stylopora Coral can thrive under a variety of lighting conditions from LEDs to T5's or halides, however in order to bring out its brightest colours it is important to monitor how the coral is doing and alter its position in the tank in order to meet its needs.

Though this coral will attain the majority of its nutritional requirements from the lighting through photosynthesis, it will also benefit from additional food sources in the form of micro-plankton.

  1. This coral is a great coral for advanced aquarist. I feed my coral at night bioplankton, coralplankton, and marineplankton and my cats paw is purple in color. This is a must have coral to add to an aquarium.
