Humbug Damsel
The Humbug Damselfish is a very popular fish, especially for those beginners into the marine world, due to their ability to handle a range of water conditions. This fish also holds a 'humbug' colouration of black and white vertical stripes covering its entire body.
Requirements
In order to keep this fish happy, it must be held in an aquarium of at least 40 litres with live rock, so it can hide between live rock when threatened. Whilst small, this fish does great in a variety of marine systems, however as it develops into an adult it starts to become quite an aggressive species and will then only be best suited for those tanks filled with the more aggressive category of fish.
Suggestions
This fish is not only hardy fish but it is also reef safe and will not harm any clean up crew members. If you are only just starting out in this hobby, this should definitely be on the list of your first fish to add.
Feeding
This fish will thrive on a variety of meaty, herbivore, and flaked foods.

This fish was my first cycling fish and it has lived for 3+ years and is about 4-5 inches long! Great attraction. It is also friendly towards my convict tang.
I believe that this fish should be added last because it is very territorial and can become a hassle to newly added fish including smaller triggers, blennies, and other types of damsels.
