Green Striped Mushrooms
The Green Striped Mushrooms are also known as the Watermelon Mushrooms due to their unique appearance that remarkably looks like a bunch of watermelons. These mushrooms do come in a varied array of colourings, some with different striping patterns or even different textures. Whilst they are small they are usually a darkish red colour, but as they mature they then develop their green watermelon like appearance.
The Green Mushrooms are relatively easy to maintain due to their hardy nature and ability to handle changes in water parameters and conditions. It should also be noted if these are housed in a reef aquarium with a lot of SPS and therefore a extremely intense lighting system, they should be placed at the bottom of the tank. Additionally, it is important to not have an exceptionally high flow going onto these mushrooms as it may aggravate them into relocating in the aquarium and not expanding as fully as they should.
These mushrooms hold a semi-aggressive temperament and therefore do have the ability to sting corals and invertebrates that are in their way. Therefore, it is crucial that when placing these mushrooms there is ample room around them to eradicate this issue.
Though this coral will attain the majority of its nutritional requirements from the lighting through photosynthesis, it will also benefit from additional food sources in the form of brine shrimp or micro-plankton.
