A few weeks back now I had a crazy bubble algae problem. I broke my tank down and put everything into a 10 Gallon to hold (my fish and inverts).
I plan on adding them to a new cycled tank today. But how do I clean the shells of the snails and crabs in my holding tank? I want no spores or bubble algae transferring over!
Was the 10 gallon tank under light? If there was no light, they might have just died. If there was then using a toothbrush will be fine..
But you will never get rid of all the spores, which is going to be hard work. To be honest with you I would focus on the actual underlying problem. I find bubble algae to be just like any other.. Keep those nutrients down and it goes away.. Once you get rid of it through sorting out your parameters or lowering the nutrients going into the tank, then I would make the move over to the new tank.
