Blue Mushroom

Blue Mushrooms

The Blue Mushrooms are highly sought after in the aquarium trade due to their unique appearance and bright blue colouration that will add a great bit of colour to any aquarium. These mushrooms do come in a varied array of colourings, some with varied patches or lines on or even different textures.

The Blue Mushrooms are relatively easy to maintain due to their hardy nature and ability to handle changes in water parameters and conditions. It should also be noted if these are housed in a reef aquarium with a lot of SPS and therefore a extremely intense lighting system, they should be placed at the bottom of the tank. Additionally, it is important to not have an exceptionally high flow going onto these mushrooms as it may aggravate them into relocating in the aquarium and not expanding as fully as they should.

These mushrooms hold a semi-aggressive temperament and therefore do have the ability to sting corals and invertebrates that are in their way. Therefore, it is crucial that when placing these mushrooms there is ample room around them to eradicate this issue.

Though this coral will attain the majority of its nutritional requirements from the lighting through photosynthesis, it will also benefit from additional food sources in the form of brine shrimp or micro-plankton.

  1. I bought this mushroom, and I am a very pleased customer. The mushroom arrived perfect with 6 on one rock, and they are doing well. They opened up fully in 2 days.I have 29 gal Biocube

  2. In my experience with blue mushrooms, I would say Isolate them as much as possible. Put the rock they come on on the sand bed, so any jumpers can be easily dealt with. Mushrooms are very nice hardy prolific corals and if given the cance will take over your LR and sting your other corals. I am not trying to scare, just inform you so you can take appropriate measures before hand.
